Iconic Brooklyn
I joined a hackerspace in Brooklyn and became so addicted to using light to cut instead of form images, that I became the maintenance person and pubic class teacher for our Epilog Mini.
The laser class was so popular we needed to add a second public night to our schedule to make sure there was capacity for everyone to have time on the machine outside of class hours.
I had the machine to myself most overnights, and I began a series of miniature sculpts of iconic Brooklyn landmarks.
Included in the series are several rides at Coney Island, the Grand Army Plaza Soldiers and Sailors Arch, the Kentile Floors neon sign in Gowanus, and water towers, which are everywhere in the 5 boroughs, but some of my favorites are in Brooklyn.
